Excursion description
The walk through Catania will begin in piazza Stesicoro, where you can admire the ruins of the Roman amphitheatre, which was one of the greatest in antiquity. We will then continue along via Etnea, full of baroque buildings, until we reach piazza Università. From there we will deviate towards the Alessi staircase that leads to via dei Crociferi, which is famous for all the XVI century churches, and where many films have been shot. Passing below the Benedettini arch we will arrive in San Francesco square, dominated by the church of the same name and the monument dedicated to Dusmet cardinal. We will then move on to Federico di Svevia square with the Ursino Castle. The last stop will be Piazza Duomo where we will visit the cathedral and the Town hall.

Excursion description
After being picked up from your hotel you will head for Rifugio Sapienza, stopping in certain view points on the way up. The guide will give you all the information you need about the history and the territory of the volcano and you will visit the sites of the last eruptions and the old Silvestri Craters.
From Rifugio Sapienza (1920 mamsl) you can choose one of the following options:
- Do some trekking in one of the nature paths of “Parco dell’Etna”, up to 2000 m.
- Buy the Etna high altitude option: from Rifugio Sapienza you will take the cable car and reach, in 15 minutes, 2504 meters. From here you will continue with special 4x4 minibuses and reach, in 20 minutes, 2900 meters (Torre del Filosofo). You will find your self in front of a scenery stretching right down to the sea. Here it will be possible to admire the great central crater, the South-East crater and the historical lava flows that characterize the landscape of Etna. With the alpinist guides you will visit the places where the life of the volcano flourishes, in full safety. You will return to Rifugio Sapienza by minibus and cable car.
The excursion will continue with the visit of a lava cave with helmets and torches.
The last stop, before returning to the hotel, will be Zafferana, where you will visit one of the most famous organic farms for a delicious sampling of typical products such as honey, wine, oil etc.

After the tasting, you will head for Taormina, but first you will stop at the wonderful “Isola Bella”, a Wildlife Reserve considered the “pearl of the Ionian sea” for its natural beauty, and connected to the mainland by a thin strip of sand. It is possible to bathe in these marvellous crystal clear waters.
After lunch (not included in the price) you will dedicate the afternoon to visiting the picturesque town of Taormina.
Along the main road of this town, Corso Umberto, with the Messina Gate below and the Catania Gate on the mountain side, you will admire the most important monuments: Palazzo Corvaja (The Corvaja Palace) , the Teatro Antico* (The Old Theatre), Piazza IX Aprile, the Torre dell’orologio (The Clock Tower), the Cattedrale Fortezza (The Fortress Cathedral), the Badia Vecchia (The Old Abbey), and the Palazzo Duca di Santo Stefano (The Duke of Saint Stephen Palace), and much more. The excursion to Alcantara River will allow you to discover all the various aspects of this very particular water stream. Walking down the small paths along the cultivated fields, the so-called “delizi”, you will reach the river, where it will be possible to admire the Gurne, natural pools created by the running water, small lakes and waterfalls surrounded by a beautiful riparian vegetation. A walk through nature, history and tradition, where the ruins of the Francavilla Castle can be observed.
You will continue by visiting the gorges: canyons formed over the millenniums by the water of the river on the lava basalts of Etna. Here it will be possible to admire the columnar basalts, lava formations resulting from the erosion process and the slow cooling, whose extraordinary shapes have various thicknesses and orientations.

Excursion description
The excursion will begin with the visit to the Archaeological park of Neapolis (from Greek “new city”) that hosts the majority of classical monuments of Greek and Roman Syracuse.
It’s the most representative area of the ancient Greek city, with large green spaces from where, walking through an old Roman street, you can get to many important archaeological monuments: the Greek theatre used for classical performances, the Roman amphitheatre, the Latomie with the Ear of Dyonisius and Cordary’s cave, the Ara of Ierone and The Church of San Nicolò ai Cordari.
You will then continue by visiting the Ortygia Island, the heart of Syracuse, and among Greek temples, Christian churches, Arabian Streets, important old palaces, you will visit The Arethusa Fountain and the Duomo square, surrounded by some beautiful baroque palaces
After lunch (not included in the price), you will head for Noto, a unique town for its Sicilian Baroque style, which was declared to be a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. The town of Noto is a true "open air museum", where it will be possible to enjoy the walk along the main street, Corso Vittorio Emanuele, and admire the many palaces and churches that are together known as the "stone garden".
